Home inventory file

The threat of loss of property from theft and other causes is always present. An accurate inventory and proof of ownership at the time of a loss can make claim settlement easier and faster. The following list will help you to compile a good inventory file.

bulletinclude the name, brand, and description of the items which will be on the file
bulletinclude serial numbers of appliances
bulletkeep receipts, purchase orders, invoices, warranties and guarantees along with a description of the item
bulletdetailed records of antiques, jewelry, silver, major appliances, and collectors' items
bulletphotographs of your valuables should be taken and kept with your records
bulletkeep your inventory up-to-date
bulletkeep your inventory file in a safe deposit box or other place outside of your home
